This webinar provides an update on exciting new technology under trial in Washington to control powdery mildew in wine grapes using UV light instead of traditional fungicides. Dr. David Gadoury, plant pathologist from Cornell University who initiated UV research on grapes, will share his work with the UV light device and robotics. Dr. Michelle Moyer, Washington State University, who is trialing the device in Washington wine grape vineyards, will update viewers on powdery mildew fungicide resistance.

Dr. Gadoury and his team at Cornell University is working to control powdery mildew with ultraviolet (UV) light in the vineyard with robots. This chemical free method also has potential to reduce sour rot, mites and increase resistance to downey mildew.
Dr. Michelle Moyer
Associate Professor, Statewide Viticulture Extension Specialist @Washington State University
Dr. Moyer leads a national USDA Specialty Crop Research Initiative project called FRAME - Fungicide Resistance, Mitigation and Extension networks that is working to develop rapid tests for growers to detect fungicide resistance and management strategies to deal with fungicide resistance.
